Renewed government repression in Nekemte and Alemaya

(borkena) Bekele Nagaa, secretary of Oromo Federalist Congress,to VOA Amharic Service that government security forces embarked on renewed crackdown in Nekemte, Alemaya, Arsi Negele and other towns in Oromigna speaking parts of Ethiopia.
A resident of Nekemte town anonymously spoke to Solomon Kifle, VOA Amharic reporter, regarding the development.. According to his testimonial, Nekemte is like a lawless town. No curfew is decreed but it is virtually difficult to move in the town around 8 pm local time. Government forces attacked and arrested students and other residents.
Other towns in South Eastern and Southern Ethiopia experienced similar development.
Many of these towns were centers of peaceful protest in recent weeks which caused deaths of an estimated 50 or more people in addition to massive arrest.
