Afar Human Rights Organization
Afar Human Rights Organization stands for freedom and justice of the
oppressed and marginalized people of Ethiopia. The protests across
Oromia region by peaceful students and public at large against land grab
and eviction of Oromo farmers is being met by brutal crackdown of the
EPRDF regime. The current killings are arrogant repetition of the brutal
massacre of peaceful protestors in the region throughout May 2014 by
the regime.
The people across Oromia have spoken clearly and said NO! No eviction
of Oromo farmers. The people of Afar said No! No to the involuntary
eviction from the banks of river awash-its life line. The people across
Ethiopia are saying NO to repression. Tantalizing actions of EPRDF are
being repealed and peacefully resisted by the people across the nation
using principled and undeterred peaceful protests.
Afar Human Rights organization express its solidarity with our
brothers and sisters of Oromo protestors in their struggle for
protection of basic human rights. The quests of the protestors are
within international laws and norms to demand basic human rights. AHRO
demand an immediate end to the killing of peaceful Oromo protestors.
AHRO urge the EPRDF regime to stop killing and massacring peaceful
protestors and express our deepest condolences for victim families who
are enduring persistent pain and sufferings for the lives lost by the
barbaric actions of EPRDF.
In this defining time, AHRO call up on all Ethiopian people to stand
in solidarity and join the struggle for democracy in Ethiopia in union
with our Oromo brothers and Sisters. The struggle of Oromo is part of
the struggle of Ethiopian people for genuine democracy and protection of
Human Rights. Killing and torturing Oromo students and farmers will
stop the desire for basic human and democratic rights rather will unite
the people against our common oppressor.
AHRO call upon all political parties and civic organizations in
Ethiopia to come together and reach an agreement where the future of our
nation and the people envisions prevalence of democracy, protection of
human rights, freedom and unity.
